Our Therapy & Assessment Services
Individual Therapy
(Child & Adolescent).
Child & adolescent therapy is adapted to the developmental level of the young person. A strong focus of early sessions will be the building of a trusting therapeutic relationship to help the young person feel safe.
Parent involvement in sessions will vary according the age and developmental level of the child. For very young children therapy will mainly be with the parents to provide effective strategies for supporting their children and managing behaviour. For older children and adolescents individual strategies will usually be established with the young person, with parent feedback at the start or end of the session.
Some common reasons families may seek therapy include:
Managing behaviour
Seeking or adjusting to a diagnosis
Coping with anxiety
Low mood
Emotional regulation
Learning needs
School can't
Study skills and coping with exams
Social understanding and skills
Bullying
Building self-esteem
Family relationships
School of Life Psychology strives to offer a neuro-affirming approach to therapy. This extends from the physical environment we have established, to the principles and ethos that underpin our therapeutic work. We also endeavour to aim for consistent improvement. Therefore, we welcome feedback from clients and families as to ways in which we can become even more safe and inclusive for all!

Parenting Support.
Children don’t come with a parenting manual (even though we wish they did!), and parenting kids, especially those that are experiencing challenges, can be a tough job. School of Life Psychology adopt positive parenting practices to aid communication, build consistency and explore effective strategies to help parents best support their children.
Parenting programs and approaches our psychologists use include:
Emotion coaching
Circle of Security
Tuning into kids
Helping parents navigate teenagers
There is no perfect way to parent a teenager - and there certainly isn't a one-size-fits-all parenting program.
We provide practical, individualised support to parents who are finding things difficult with their teenager. Drawing on many years of working with adolescents and families,
We help parents understand what might be underneath their teenager's behaviour, work out what to do differently, set boundaries without constant battles, and maintain connection through the challenging years (it's a big ask but you can do it).
Assessments.
School of Life Psychology offers a range of assessments, including diagnostic assessments.
